Concern over local UKIP candidate.

One of UKIP’s European candidates was suspended and then quit as a councillor after he removed hundreds of completed electoral registration forms from a town hall. Shneur Odze — previously a Tory councillor in Hackney but now fourth on the UKIP MEP list in the North West — scarpered with the sack full of confidential papers in October 2002. Odze had his council security pass revoked after he refused to admit to the breach, eventually confessing in an interview with Metropolitan Police – claiming that he was trying to highlight lax security arrangements. Rather than discuss his concerns with council officers, however, Cllr Odze nicked the papers before delivering them to the, errrr, Hackney Gazette. He initially escaped punishment, but was eventually suspended by the Standards Committee for failing to complete a supervised ethics training programme. Odze is currently making headlines for his refusal to shake the hands of women voters or UKIP activists, citing his religious views. Good to see that new “rigorous candidate vetting process” is working then. http://politicalscrapbook.net/2014/02/ukip-mep-candidate-stole-completed-election-registration-papers/shneur-odze-nigel-farage-speech-bubble
